They move off each other. They run with pace.”Wagner worked free along the left wing and went near post to start the scoring in the 13th minute. Chuck Domm, who opened the season with six markers in an 11-nil win over Red Creek, connected on a free kick seven minutes later.20’ Chuck Domm connects from just outside the 18. @ERBombers 2-nil pic.twitter.com/VcMWvU0Szh— Paul Gotham (@PickinSplinters) October 7, 2020“We want four or five touches before we take a shot,” Domm said. “That’s how we play. We want four or five passes before we get a shot off. We go at the backline.”Jalen Patterson took advantage of a second-chance opportunity off a Russ Domm corner kick to make it a three-goal lead, and Chuck Domm tapped one home from the six.Seventeen minutes remained in the first half and ER had all but suffocated the Spartans.22’ Jalen Patterson takes advantage of a second-chance opportunity on the corner kick to give @ERBombers a3-nil lead. pic.twitter.com/n0T06cf5ua— Paul Gotham (@PickinSplinters) October 7, 2020“Truth be told, we’re not that fit yet,” Domm admitted. “Our fitness level is not there. We’re trying to put it away early in the first half because we don’t know what we’re going to have left in the second half.”Szemcsak and Chuck Domm added second-half tallies.Mason Karasinski converted a penalty kick for the lone Sodus scored.Wednesday’s win was ER’s 21st in their last 22 games going back to the start of 2019. The state’s top-ranked squad year ago, the Bombers ran their record to 19-0-0 in winning the Section V Class C1 title.“We had so much fun winning a sectional title last year,” he said. “It takes a lot of skill, a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck to win a sectional title. If we could do that again and put another one on the board, the kids would be happy.”Their lone setback last season came to eventual state semifinalist Keshequa in the regional qualifier, a stinging 1-o loss in overtime. The two teams are set to meet in the regular season this year when Keshequa makes the trip to East Rochester on October 24th.“They don’t back down from anybody. They’re tough. We put the invite out, and they took it immediately. They had to get it passed by the board because they’re traveling so far out of the district, but they want to come.”New face in goalWith the graduation of goalkeeper Michael Raschiatore, Domm had a need between the pipes. When the football season was moved to next spring, it opened the opportunity for Manny Sepulveda to step in.“We didn’t have a lot of answers in goal, so when football moved Manny came to me before I even got to him. He’s doing great. He’s helping us out a lot right now. He’s terrific.”An All-County performer on the gridiron and on the basketball court, Sepulveda is an imposing in the net.“Manny is a basketball player/football player who just wanted to come out and be a part of something special. He looks like he’s been playing in goal his whole life, to be honest with you.” Connect on Linked incenter_img Print This Post Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.
